Syntax

(<= expr [expr ...])

Arguments and Values

  • one or more expressions, each a number or a string (shared domain rule above).

Description

Returns T if each argument is less than or equal to the argument to its right — over numbers (by value) and strings (lexicographically).

Return Values

  • T on success
  • nil otherwise, or if any argument is nil (bottom propagation)

Side Effects

Side effects are those of evaluating the arguments.

Examples

  • (<= 1 1 2) => T
  • (<= "a" "a" "b") => T
  • (<= 1 nil) => nil — no error (⊥ propagation).
  • (<= 1 "a") signals a type error.

Compatibility

Like <, over numbers and strings; strings order lexicographically by code point. Cross-type non-nil arguments signal a type error; a nil argument yields nil. See "The Comparison Operators , /, <, <=, >, >=".
